Everett Eugene Stubbs

McALESTER — Everett Eugene Stubbs, 82, of McAlester, died Friday, May 2, 2014, in Krebs.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. J.T. Carnell officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester. Military honors will be provided by Robert B. Thomas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born May 10, 1931, in Hartville, Mo., he was the son of Henry Murton and Minnie Lansdown Stubbs. He attended schools in Hartville. He later attended college at Oklahoma Eastern State College.

He joined the United States Air Force on Jan. 22, 1951, serving during the Korean War and also the Vietnam War. He was discharged on March 1, 1971.

He married Anna Earwood Mackey on July 16, 1975, in Sallisaw. He owned a sporting goods store in San Antonio, Texas.

After moving to McAlester, he owned and operated a bait shop and tire store in Krebs. He was also a retired carpenter.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Everett Lyle and Alice Stubbs, Marion, Texas, Johnnie and Elaine Stubbs, Abilene, Texas, Larry Stubbs, Lebanon, Mo., and Garry and Lisa Stubbs, Clearwater, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jim Fletcher, San Antonio; one brother, Glen Edwards, of McAlester; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Anna Earwood Stubbs.

She moved to Edmond, OK, two months ago in order to be closer to her sons and family members. Bette was born on the family farm near Washington, OK, on March 11, 1930.
