David Lynn Clifton

McALESTER — David Lynn Clifton, 63, of Krebs, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at Brumley-Mills Chapel with the Rev. Artie Joe Hearod officiating. Burial was at Hugh Low Cemetery in Scipio. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born May 23, 1950, in McAlester, he was the son of David Fred and Dessie Lou “Dee” (Ballard) Clifton. He grew up in Scipio and McAlester, graduating from McAlester High School.

He married Mary Susan Haggard on June 12, 1971, in McAlester, and they soon moved to Krebs, where they were currently living.

He was assistant manager and then manager of Arrowhead State Park for many years until retiring. Since his retirement from the state he has been working at WalMart.

He was an avid coon hunter and was a member of Pittsburg County Coonhunters Association. He also enjoyed fishing but mainly just loved spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Clifton, of the home; one daughter, Caitlin Susan Clifton, of the home; one son, Jonathan David Clifton, of the home; father, Fred Clifton, of Scipio; one sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Gary Blansett, of McAlester; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Rusty Clifton, of Haileyville, and Randy and Geri Clifton, of Scipio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dee Clifton; his grandparents, Wilson and Lecta Clifton and Clarence and Beatrice Ballard, and two nephews, Joshua and Joseph Maffeo.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Wingo, Jim Crissman, Larry Clifton, Son Walters, Terry Allen, Rocky Purdom.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Pittsburg County Coonhunters Association.
