Daniel E. Williams, 61, of Bacliff, Texas, formerly of McAlester, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Boggs officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born Nov. 16, 1951, in McAlester, he was the son of Nina G. and Othal E. Williams. He attended public schools in Savanna, Stigler and McAlester. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1970, Oklahoma State University in Stillwater in 1974 and, completed two masters’ degrees from East Central University in Ada. He taught school in New Mexico and Texas and was currently employed with Harris County School District in Houston, Texas.
He was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and very proud of his Choctaw heritage. He enjoyed the OSU Cowboys, Houston Texans, good food and gaming at casinos.
Survivors include his mother, Nina G. Williams, of McAlester; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and John Searle, of Oklahoma City; nephew, Travis Searle and Lisa, of Norman; niece, Elizabeth Rogers and Eric, of Edmond; great-nephew, Michael Rogers, of Edmond, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Othal Williams; grandparents, Frank and Osie Grubbs and Ohlen and Meda Williams, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
