Ruth J. Perry, 74, of McAlester, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa.
The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bishop Chapel of Memories. Randy Tidmore will officiate assisted by Stanley Hyde. Interment will follow at Tannehill Cemetery.
Arrangements are under direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
She was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Arpelar to Willis Dee Bowen and Oral A. Farmer Bowen. She began school at Arpelar and later her family moved to McAlester where she graduated in the Class of 1957. She married Louis Perry on March 22, 1963, in McAlester. She worked from 1981 to 1989 for the Pittsburg County sheriff as jail administrator.
She enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing and going out to eat.
She is survived by her husband, Louis “Butch” Perry, of the home; children, Warren Perry and wife, Stacie, of Mounds, and Terry and Vernon Jenkins, of Broken Arrow; special nephew, Ronnie Bowen, of McAlester; grandchildren, Julie McElyea, of Broken Arrow, Jenny McElyea, of Broken Arrow, Jason McElyea and wife, Kristin, of Broken Arrow, Warren Perry and Taylor, of Mounds, David Perry and Kaytlin, of Sapulpa, Edward Perry, of Sapulpa, Stasea Perry, of Mounds, Tarren Perry, of Sapulpa, Landy James, of McAlester, and Chelsey Bowen, of McAlester; brother, Virgil Bowen, of McAlester; bother-in-law, Myrtle Perry, of McAlester; great-grandchildren, Lucy McElyea, Chloe Perry, Madyson Perry, Darin Perry, Braxton Perry, Zachariah Perry, Kylie James, Jesse James and Addison; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Linda Perry, William and Sharon Perry, Jerry and Donna Perry, Mary and Stanley Hyde, Diane and Ralph Jernigan, and Diane Bowen, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Oral Bowen; brothers, Ronnie Jack Bowen and Edwin Bowen, and her father-in-law, Edward Perry.
Pallbearers will be Matt Drummond, Ramey Jernigan, John Perry, Michael Perry, Steve Larson, Eugene Hyde, Nathan Cato, Wade Perry, Thomas Hyde and Brandon Roach.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
