Jimmy Lee Terry, 77, of the Blocker area, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at his home near Blocker.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Ash Creek Union Church with Marvin Ginn officiating. Burial will be at Ash Creek Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Sept. 2, 1935, in Little Onion, he was the son of Jesse Lee and Essie May (Brummet) Terry. He attended school at Alderson. After his education he entered the United States Navy in 1954 and was on active duty till 1958. He then was transferred into the U.S. Navy reserves, being honorably discharged in 1962.
He married Rachel Watkins on May 17, 1956, in McAlester. The family lived for a time in California and Texas before returning to the Blocker area in 1968. He was employed for Big V Feed until his retirement in 2001.
He attended the Ash Creek Union Church.
He enjoyed his family and his hobbies included sports, gardening, auctions and operating a vegetable stand at the Farmers Market.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Terry, of the home; three daughters, Rita and husband Floyd Allen, of Tuttle, Cathy and husband Neal Johnson, of McAlester, and Saundra and Jeff Jacobs, of Blue Creek; one son, Jessie Terry, of Elm Point; two sisters, Lola Wilson, of Krebs, and Katherine Perry, of Carney; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one infant son James Leroy Terry.
Pallbearers will be Rick Ketcher, Jimmy Weiher, Charles Allen, Fred Allen, Kenneth Southard and Bill Sockey.
