Charles Lewis Smith, 93, of Alderson, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the hospital in Shawnee.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Alderson Cemetery with the Rev. Cecil Lee officiating. Burial will follow. Funeral arrangement are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Oct. 20, 1919, in Alderson, he was the son of Lewis and Beatrice (Davis) Smith. He graduated from Hartshorne High School with the Class of 1937.
In 1941, he and his wife moved to California where he lived and worked until 1986. He retired in 1986 and moved back to Alderson where he was born.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his five children, Beatrice Henderson, San Mateo, Calif., Vernell Smith and wife, Jackie, Sacramento, Calif., Linda Smith, Sacramento, Carol Sue Collins, Oakland, Calif., and Gregory Smith, of the home.
Also, cousin, Don Laws, of McAlester; sister-in-law, Gwen Smith and children, of Hartshorne; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of California; numerous nieces and nephews, all of California, and numerous cousins, all of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Beatrice Smith; son, Floyd Smith; daughter, Sandra Smith; first wife, Irene Hendricks; second wife, Aileen Williams, and four brothers.
