Barbara Jean ‘Bobbie’ ‘Janie’ Eilers

McALESTER — Barbara Jean “Bobbie” “Janie” Eilers, 82, of McAlester, died Monday, Feb., 18, 2013, at a local nursing center.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. today at Arpelar Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Bart Patterson officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Oct. 29, 1930, in Claremore, she was the daughter of Tobe Pete and Florence White Thomas. She married Raymond William Eilers in 1964, and they made their home in Las Vegas.

She worked in a casino as a change girl and a bartender. After her retirement she was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, collecting donations to help needy families with food around the holidays.

After her husband preceded her in death, she moved to Krebs in 1995 to live with her daughter. She then opened B.J.’s Now and Then consignment store located in North Town and on A Street in McAlester.

She enjoyed painting, working word search puzzles and playing bingo.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Paul Petrone, of Krebs; grandchildren, James Andrew Wood and wife, Sharon, of Krebs, Christopher Roger Wood, of Alderson, Michelle Ann Hodgeson, of Mississippi, Christopher Thomas Hodgeson, of Mississippi, Marlin Dean Hodgeson, of Mississippi, and John Hodgeson, of Mississippi.

Also, great-grandchildren, Alan Bolding, Fort Collins, Colo., Angelica Bartholow, of Arpelar, Amber Wells, Monticello, Ark., Laura Hill, Monticello, Ark., John Wood, of California, Megan Wood, of Muskogee, and Margie Harris, of Krebs.

And, great-great-grandchildren, Michael Wilson, Christopher Wilson, A.J. Wilson, William Wood, Vance Lee Hill, Gloria Hill, Destiny Hill, Enoch Gene Wood and Jeremy James Wood, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond William Eilers, in 1994, a daughter, Wanda Smith; a granddaughter, Charlett Wood, and 12 brothers and sisters.
