Betty Lee Moore

McALESTER — Betty Lee Moore, 57, of Tulsa, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Saint Francis Health System, Tulsa.

Family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bishop Funeral Service.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Canadian United Methodist Church in Canadian. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

Born Dec. 4, 1956, in McAlester, to Samuel Edward and Billie Jean (Moncrief) Pierce. She grew up, in Canadian, where she graduated as valedictorian of her senior class in 1975. While in high school, she was active in 4-H Club, played basketball for the Lady Cougars, and was also very active in the Canadian United Methodist Church in the choir and the Eufaula United Methodist Youth Fellowship.

Following high school, she furthered her education by attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater earning a bachelor’s degree in family relations and child development. She had a long career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Tulsa, working as a sales and customer service representative. She retired in the late 1990s due to her health, as she was battling multiple sclerosis since the early 1980s.

She enjoyed rock music, playing dominoes and talking on the phone. She was spunky, feisty and never let her illness slow her down.

She is survived by her son, Sam Moore, of Tulsa; daughter, Emily Moore, of Tulsa; two sisters, Melinda Johnson, and husband, Glen D., of Oklahoma City, Nancy (Pierce) Holt, of Norman; niece, Ann Estes, of Norman; and father of her children, Gary Moore, of  Tulsa.

She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Edward Pierce and her mother, Billie Jean (Monicrief) Pierce.

Pallbearers will be Sam Moore, Gary Moore, Matt Miller, Robert Miller, Wade Miller, Chad Hartsfield, Bobby Graham, Scott Capener
