Charles H. Vires, 74, of Dow, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bache-Red Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Lonnie Clunn and Joshua Vires officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
Born Sept. 26, 1938, in Owsley County, Ky., he was the son of Isaac and Gracie (Caldwell) Vires. He married Marie Robson on June 26, 1964.
He was a member of Haileyville Assembly of God. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Vires, of the home; children, Charles Vires Jr., of Henderson, Tenn., Tonya Vires, of McAlester, Sonya Vires, of McAlester, and Ellea Vires, of the home.
Also, seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Hobart Vires, of Scottsburg, Ind., and two sisters, Dorthy (Vires) Flenor, of Goshen, Ind., and Bessie Vires, Scottsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul Gean Vires; three brothers and two sisters.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Fletcher, Danny Isaac, Jeff Kendrick, Eddie Wilson, Phillip Wilson, Billy Wilson and Donald Wilson.
