Rev. Edward ‘Rick’ Ulric Fannie II

McALESTER — The Rev. Edward “Rick” Ulric Fannie II, 73, of McAlester, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Chaney’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Burnside officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Aug. 16, 1940, in Winchester, N.H., he was the son of Edward Ulric and Priscilla Mary (Woods) Fannie. He spent his school years in Keene, N.H.

He married Loretta Hoyt in Bridgeport, Conn. In 1976, he moved his family to Oklahoma. He attended college at the Oklahoma Missionary Baptist College in Marlow and received a master’s degree in religious education. He pastored Family Christian Church in Marlow for 25 years.

He was a member of Independent Assemblie. In 2006, he and his wife moved to McAlester to be closer to grandchildren, where he also worked at Lowe’s and was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta; six children, Heidi Scobell and husband, George, Cumming, Ga., Victoria Henderson and husband, Guy, of Duncan, Richard Scott Fannie and wife, Debra, of Yukon, Edward “Ricky” Ulric Fannie III and wife, Nancy, of Marlow, Ruth Harkins and husband, Stephen, of McAlester, and Lucas Fannie and wife, Laurie, Austin, Texas.

Also, sisters, Peggy Blaine, Boston, Mass., Judith Mohr and husband, Jack, Bremen, Maine, Barbara Holbein, Jacksonville, Fla., and Lorna Gay Rau, Keene; brother, Lonnie Fannie, of North Carolina.

And, grandchildren, George Scobell IV and wife, Laura, Allentown, Penn., Loretta Abbott and husband, Matthew, Manassas, Va., Matthew Scobell and wife, Sarah, Bethlehem, Ga., Michael McCormick and wife, Jordan, of Tuttle, Brittany Kaspereit and husband, Chad, of Comanche, Corbin Henderson, of Duncan, Nathan Kendall and wife Emily, Tyler, Texas, Jessica Wooten and husband, Mike, of Marlow, Crist’l Lodato, of Moore, Sabrina Foy and husband, Derrick, of Lawton, Michael Fannie and wife, Merriam, of Duncan, Samantha Fannie, of Marlow, Tabatha Fannie and Gus Gregurek, Denton, Texas, Cade, Olivia and Racer Harkins, of McAlester, Aaron Fannie and Morgan Jenkins, Austin, Texas, and Drew Fannie, Austin.

And, great-grandchildren, Lily, Addison, Emma, Liam, Ally, Abram, Alivia, Lennox, Chase, Cali, Aiden, Easton, Shelby, Skyler, Breanna, Haleigh, Colton, Katlyn, and Michael; sisters-in-law, Bernice DeNike and husband, Frank, of McAlester, Liberty Brown and husband, Tom, Laconia, N.H., and Anna May Hutchins, Keene, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Ulric Fannie I, and mother, Priscilla Mary Wheeler.

Pallbearers will be Richard Scott Fannie, Edward “Ricky” Ulric Fannie III, Lucas Fannie, George Scobell, Guy Henderson and Stephen Harkins.
