Daniel S. Pipino

McALESTER — Daniel S. Pipino, 89, of McAlester, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Oklahoma Veterans Center in Talihina.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Father Leonard Higgins as celebrant.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in McAlester with Father Leonard Higgins officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in McAlester. Military honors will be provided by Robert B. Thomas, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born April 17, 1924, in Niles, Ohio, he was the oldest of five children born to Antonio and Anet Pipino. He spent his early years in Niles.

He was a World War II veteran.

He enlisted in the United States Navy on Dec. 8, 1942, and was discharged Nov. 17, 1945. He was stationed at the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot in McAlester during World War II, where he met his future wife. He married Mildred Bowman, of Canadian, on Dec. 16, 1943, in McAlester.

In his early life in Ohio, he was a sheet metal worker. Later, he was a salesman for Albe pre-fabricated homes in Niles.

He and his wife moved to Huntsville, Ala. in 1965, where he became a district manager for Albe homes.

 In 1967, they moved to Freeport Grand Bahama Island, where he was a construction supervisor.

 In 1970, they moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where they owned and operated several record and tape stores.

In 1975 they moved to McAlester, where he worked for Polson and Champion Rubber Company in North McAlester.

He later worked for National Oilwell and De Mac Lumber, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his son, Tony Pipino, of the home; two grandchildren, Gina Schultz, Sheboygan Falls, Wis., and Dan Musch, Sheboygan Falls, and three great-grandchildren, Amber and Chase Schultz, Sheboygan Falls, and Madison Musch, Sheboygan Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Pipino; parents, Antonio and Anet Pipino; brothers, Cass Pipino and Victor Pipino, and sisters, Rosemary Kuhl and Lucille Sanfrey.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Bowman, Jim Benson, Bob Rutledge, Ricky DeFrange, Jimmy Joe DeFrange and Clifford Allen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Bowman, Johnny Bowman, William Bowman, Junior Bowman, C. W. Conley, Bill McClain, B.J. Johnson, John Adkins, Michael Thornton,

Keith McBride and Freddie Mills.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.
