Delca Mae Copeland, 78, of Tulsa, formerly of McAlester, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, in Tulsa.
Visitation will be today from 1 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chaney’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Chaney Harkins Funeral Home.
She was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Norfolk, Ark., to William Hamilton and Lela (Sammons) Hamilton.
She married Robert “Sonny” L. Copeland on Feb. 9, 1952, and they had five children. Robert preceded her in death in 2008 after 56 years of marriage.
She was employed by National Oilwell Varco for more than 20 years and retired in 2007. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, and taking care of her grandchildren and attending their activities. She also enjoyed gardening, canning her fruits and vegetables, and quilting.
She is survived by her children, Bobby Copeland, and wife, Melanie, of Tulsa, Rhonda Bradford, and husband, Monte, of Broken Arrow, Opal Price, and husband, Ronnie, of Sapulpa, Freddie Copeland, and wife, Kimberli, of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Brian Copeland, and wife, Tara, of Virginia Beach, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Sue Garrigan, of McAlester, Dorothy Linton, and husband, Steve, of Alva, Ark., and Delona Pickett, of Inola; brothers R.C. Hamilton, and wife, Dorothy, of Independence, Kan., Pete Hamilton, of Alabama, Carol Hamilton, and wife, Dianne, of El Paso, Texas, Carl Hamilton, and wife, Ann, of Strawberry, Ark., Lloyd Hamilton, of McAlester, and Tom Hamilton, and wife, Joann, of Collinsville, Ala., and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sonny Copeland; grandson Robert Copeland III; brother Eldon Hamilton, and son-in-law Benjamin Dodson.
Pallbearers will be Brandin Dodson, Kyle Dodson, Austin Thacker, Jordan Thacker, Bailey Dodson, Kade Chinn and Corbin Shaw.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Copeland III, Dakota Copeland, Keaton Fry, Ricky Pickett, Lloyd Hamilton and Klynton Fry.
