He attended school at Tucker Knob, Quinton, and Kinta. She graduated as Valedictorian of her senior class of 1950 at Kinta High School. She married Lowell (Sonny) Pugh June 24, 1950, in Ft. Smith, Ark. To this union were born five daughters. Throughout most of their marriage, she traveled with her husband and girls following construction jobs across the country. Finding a church was always top priority for herself and her girls. She was a very active member of the Church of God in Quinton.
On January 20, 2005, she married John K. Shields in Poteau. Together they resided on a small ranch in Blocker. There they enjoyed their days listening to gospel singing and watching the view of the mountain from the front porch swing.
She will be remembered as a person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. Her family and friends will remember her for her chocolate and coconut pies, her love for God, her family and her church.
