Janet F. (Alexander) Kinkead

McALESTER — Janet F. (Alexander) Kinkead, 73, of McAlester, Oklahoma, died August 21, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

The family will receive visitors from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Bishop Funeral Service.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2013, at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. James Crowson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Janet was born February 18, 1940, in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was the  daughter of John Paul and Juanita (Perry) Alexander.  She graduated from McAlester High School in 1958.  Janet was a homemaker and military wife and lived overseas in Japan and Germany before returning to the states.  She had three children, Kim, Sheri and Will.  She later worked for the March of Dimes in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.  The family returned to McAlester in 1985 and she owned and operated Pansy’s Dress Shop for a number of years.  Later in her life, she reconnected with her friend Ronnie Leslie who became her constant companion until the time of her passing.  Ronnie and Janet enjoyed traveling together and enjoyed passing the time under the shade tree.  She had a special bond with her grandchildren and loved every moment that she spent with them.  Janet loved the Lord and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survived by: Son: Will Kinkead and wife, Kathy, of Norman, Oklahoma; Daughters: Kim Kinkead, of McAlester, Oklahoma, Sheri Kinkead, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Grandchildren:     Luke Kinkead, Rebecca Kinkead, of Norman, Oklahoma, Ryan Smith, Ian Smith, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Lifelong friend,    Ronnie Leslie, of McAlester, Oklahoma; Numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Paul and Juanita Alexander; sister, Hope Nickalas; and a brother, Garland Perry.
