Donald G. “Spoons” Morgan, 60, of Haileyville, died March 7, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Oct. 22, 1952, in Bakersfield, Calif., he was the son of Vencil and Ruby Irene (Morrow) Morgan. He grew up in Bishop, Calif., attended school there and played on the high school baseball team, graduating in 1971. He then raised his family there and was a supervisor for Union Carbide.
He had lived in Haileyville for the past few years, where he was well known for his skill in playing the spoons.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jesse Boyle, Clovis, N.M., and Krista and Jesus Calixtopiza, San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; his mother, Irene Morgan, of the home; a brother, Jerry Morgan, of Eufaula, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vencil Morgan, and a brother, Ron Morgan.
