McALESTER — Jewell Miner Williams, 84, of Savanna, has died.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bill Merritt Funeral Services in Bethany

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Oakhill Cemetery, McAlester.

Services are under the direction of Bill Merritt Funeral Services, Bethany.

Born June 28, 1929, in Savanna, she was the daughter of Bertie Bond and James Miner Sr.

She was one of nine children. She grew up on the family farm in Savanna where she also attended school.

She married Wendell Williams on Jan. 3, 1948. They were married more than 50 years and lived much of their lives in McAlester.

They had two children.

She worked at Elsings Manufacturing as a clothing designer until the business closed. She later worked as an administrative assistant for Oklahoma State Industries in Stringtown before retiring.

After she was widowed, she moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to family.

She enjoyed being with her family and reading.

She is survived by her son, Lewis Williams and wife, Debbie; granddaughter, Serena Freeberg and husband, Ian; five grandchildren; a sister, B. Coleman, and husband, Carrol; a brother, Walter Miner and wife, Opal; and, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Williams; a daughter, Gwen Angilan; parents, Bertie and James Miner Sr.; sisters, Ola Mae Shields, Dorothy Doyal, Lena Bigelow and Peggy Beard; and brothers, James Miner Jr. and George Miner.
