Danny D. Williams

McALESTER — Danny D. Williams, 53, of McAlester, died Saturday, Oct. 12,  2013, at Heart Hospital  South in Oklahoma City.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Robbie Cockerhan officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Honors will be provided by Oklahoma State Prison Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Oct. 4, 1960, in McAlester, he was the son of James D. and Wanda F. Monks Hooks. He attended schools in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School in 1978.

After high school he attended Okmulgee Tech, earning him a degree in mechanics. He then went to work for the State of Oklahoma on Jan. 31, 1986, first as a correctional officer and then as a counselor and finally transferred to the office of management enterprise services and worked as an information system network management specialist.

He enjoyed fishing, building model airplanes and being a big Oklahoma University fan. He also enjoyed all the time that he spent with his family.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Williams, of McAlester, and Holly Ledford, of McAlester; grandchildren, Ayden Staton, of McAlester, Andyn Williams, of McAlester, Mekhi Barr, of McAlester, Ava Staton, of McAlester, James Barr Jr., of McAlester, and Kyndyn Williams, of McAlester; his mother, Wanda Hooks, of McAlester.

Also, two brothers, Donald Williams and his wife, Ginger, of McAlester, and Jimmy Williams and his wife, Marti, Brunswick, Ga.; nephews, Chris Williams, of Ashland, and Anthony Williams, of McAlester; nieces, Lori Kelley, of Stillwater, Darlene Kaufman, of Oregon, and Angela Baueck, Baton Rouge, La.; numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends, and special friends, Todd Welch, Jerry Perry, Brian McCarty and Neil McIntosh.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Hooks, and a grandson, Sebastian Staton.

Pallbearers will be Chris Williams, Brian McCarty, Jerry Perry, Neil  McIntosh, Todd Welch and Eddie Jewel.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Jackie Brannon Correctional Center and employees of the Probation and Parole Office.
