Don Allen Jennings, 82, of McAlester, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at a local nursing center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor J.P. Hackler officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Oct. 19, 1930, in McAlester, he was the son of Frank and Lois (Chandler) Jennings. He was a 1949 graduate of McAlester High School.
While serving in the United States Air Force, he married Helen Jackson on Nov. 10, 1951. After receiving his honorable discharge from the air force, he enrolled at Oklahoma State University, where he received his civil engineering degree in 1958. He was a registered professional engineer. He worked at the U.S. Army Ammunition Plant for 25 years, and at the time of his retirement he was director of engineering and housing.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and deer hunting. He was also an avid fan of Oklahoma State University sports.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Jennings, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Tony Terronez, of Oklahoma City, and Carol and Dwight McKinney, Flower Mound, Texas.
Also, four grandchildren, Casey Brittain and husband, Jeremy, of Cashion, Courtney Peters, of Oklahoma City, Corey McBride, of Flower Mound, and Alexandra McBride, of Flower Mound; two great-grandsons, Parker and Carter Brittai; one sister, DeAnna Wade, of McAlester, and a niece, Toni Ellington and husband, Sid, of New Orleans.
