Gordon Cameron-Stuart

McALESTER — Gordon Cameron-Stuart, 71, a McAlester area resident, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, in Oklahoma City.

Family night will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown’s Chapel-Coalgate with Pastor Chip Lott officiating. Burial will be at Moore Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Born Aug. 26, 1939, in Albuquerque, N.M., he was the son of Clyde C. and Vera (Gibson) Stuart. He attended Las Vegas High School and graduated from Chaminade University of Honolulu with a bachelors degree in business administration.

He married Barbara Hampton on June 23, 1981, in Vernon, Texas. He was a senior case manager at Oklahoma State Prison in McAlester.

He attended Calvary Baptist Church in McAlester where he served as Sunday school superintendent and bus driver.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving three tours. He received the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal 2d Award, National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal with six Battle Stars, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Ribbon with Device, Novice, Senior, and Master Parachute Wings, Imperial Iranian Parachute Wings with two Stars and Wreath, Special Forces, Unit Awards, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Republic of Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Republic of Viet Nam Civic Actions Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Cameron-Stuart, of the home in McAlester; grandson, Bobby Hall-Thompson, of the home in McAlester.

Also, children, William Bruce Cameron-Stuart, Lutz, Fla., Gordon Eugene Cameron-Stuart, Lutz, James Duane Cameron-Stuart and wife, Melissa, of Cache, Jim Fred Hall, of McAlester, and Sandra Mae Hall-Burke and husband, Jason, of Hartshorne.

And, grandchildren, Brian Cameron-Stuart, Thomas Cameron-Stuart, Thanatos (TJ) Cameron-Stuart, Lilly Burke and Emily Burke; great-grandchild, Skylar Cameron-Stuart.

And, brother, James B. Cameron-Stuart, Houston; sisters, Jean Smith and husband, Jesse, Hurst, Texas, and Lyn Rhinehart and husband, Lloyd, Biloxi, Miss., and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde C. and Vera (Gibson) Stuart, and two brothers, “Little Chief” Cameron-Stuart and Alex Cameron-Stuart.

Pallbearers will be John Hampton, Keith Hampton, David Hampton, Todd Coats, Steven Hampton, Chase Hampton, Frank Hampton, Ron Hampton and Robert Hampton.
