McALESTER — Jane Rayburn, 63, of McAlester, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at her home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at All Saints’ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Stephanie Swinnea officiating. The homily will be given by the Rev. Dr. Bill Ellington. Inurnment will be at All Saints’ Columbarium. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Aug. 14, 1950, in Enid, she was the daughter of William Bradford “Bill” and Franke (Maggoffin) Rayburn. Her family came to McAlester when she was a toddler and she grew up here until the family moved to Virginia in the mid 1960s. She graduated from high school in Virginia and returned to McAlester in 1971.

After earning a bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma, she went to work for the state of Oklahoma as a probation officer until her retirement. The last few years she has worked as a dog groomer.

She enjoyed going camping with her family and was an avid scuba diver, going to Cozumel at least once a year for a diving trip.

She was a long-time member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in McAlester.

Survivors include her mother, Franke Rayburn, of McAlester; three sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Lori Greer, of Hugo, Brian and Bryn Greer, of McAlester, and Walt and Dina Greer, of McAlester; grandchildren, Heather Villar and husband, Gerard, Bradford Greer, Skylar, Trace and Trenton Greer, and Linsay and J.W. Greer, and one brother, John Rayburn, of McAlester.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Rayburn.
