Kevin Michael Helfenbein

McALESTER — Kevin Michael Helfenbein, 32, of Alderson, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

The family will greet friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Chaney’s Memorial Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Cliff House. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney Harkins Funeral Home.

Born March 2, 1981, he was the son of Jerry and Mary (Williams) Helfenbein in Perryton, Texas.

He graduated from McAlester High School with the class of 1999.

He was an Eagle Scout. He attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and the University of Central Oklahoma. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, underwater diving, snowboarding and music.

He was an accomplished drummer as well as a certified diver.

He was a member of Lakewood Christian Church.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Mary Helfenbein, of Alderson; brother, Brian Helfenbein of McAlester; nephew, Tyler Helfenbein; paternal grandmother, Berneta Horn of McAlester; maternal grandmother, Voneta Williams of Sandia, Texas; aunts, Diana Helfenbein and Nelly Helfenbein, of Perryton, Texas, Rebecca Ellis and husband, Ed of Missoula, Mont., Donna Minyard, of Pampa, Texas, and Sherry Walter of Sandia, Texas, and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Dave Helfenbein, maternal grandfather Durward Williams, paternal step-grandfather Keith Horn, and uncles David Lloyd Helfenbein, Weber Helfenbein, Michael Minyard and Johnny Walker.

Pallbearers will be Keith Coulter, Collin Williams, Steve Patterson, Cliff Pitner, Chris Taylor and Roger Otis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Edwards, Steve Otis, Jason Evans and Josh Michel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakewood Christian Building Fund.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.
