Alma Bryant, 94, of McAlester, died Thursday March 20, 2014, at a local nursing center.
The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home today from 4 to 6 p.m.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Steve Mayhew and Bill Kirk. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Sept. 17, 1919, in Lawrence, Ark., she was the daughter of J. P. and Minnie (Hicks) Henderson.
She and her family came to McAlester when she was a child and she had lived in he area her entire life. She attended school at Haywood.
She married Otto A. Bryant on Nov. 10, 1940, in McAlester.
She was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. She also enjoyed working as a substitute teacher in many of the area schools. She was a long-time member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of McAlester.
She is survived by three daughters, Anita and Joe Bowen, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Ottie and Gary Ivey, of McAlester, and Kerry Cable of Savanna; four grandsons, one granddaughter, 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and special friend Sue Marchant, of McAlester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto Bryant, who died April 16, 1991; a grandson, and her siblings.
Pallbearers will be Ty Cable, Ronnie Bowen, Steve Bowen, Monte Ivey, Carroll Marchant and Yates Funburg.
