Melissa Mildred (Dickens) Talley

McALESTER — Melissa Mildred (Dickens) Talley, 86, of Stuart, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at a nursing center in McAlester.

The family will receive visitors from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bishop Funeral Home in McAlester. Services are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Stuart First Baptist Church in Stuart, with the Rev. Tommy Brannon officiating. Internment will be at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart.  Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

She was born to James H. and Rhoda J. (Whorthen) Dickens September 28, 1927 in Lamar, Okla. She graduated from Yeager High School in 1946 and married Stanley C. Talley in Wetumka on Dec. 20, 1947. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Stuart Public Schools for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stuart.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Talley, and wife, Ronda; and Larry Talley, and wife, Connie, all of Stuart; grandchildren Selanie Hubbert and husband, Ben, of Midland, Texas; Skyler Davison and husband, Ryan    , of Stuart; William Talley, of Ada, and Tracy Talley, of Ada; great-grandchildren Alec Whitfield, Jair Hubbert, Cale Davison, Quinn Davison, George Talley, Madison Talley, Hunter Talley and Melissa Talley; a brother, Ulyes Dickens, of Big Springs, Texas; a sister-in-law, Ruby Dickens, of Knoxville, Tenn., and numerous other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rhoda Dickens; her husband, Stanley C. Talley, on March 7, 2009; a son, Billy Talley; brothers: J.W. Dickens, Truitt Dickens, and T.J. Dickens; and sister, Juanita Lester.

Active pallbearers are Troy Beck; Bill SanMillan; Tracy Blasengame; Kenneth Hokit; Dave Fleming and Roger Davis.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons and great-grandsons.
