Alva Venita ‘Nanny’ Allen

McALESTER — Alva Venita “Nanny” Allen, 95, of McAlester, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Free Will Baptist Church in McAlester with the Rev. Steve Mayhew officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born July 16, 1918, in Haileyville, she was the daughter of James Sylvester and Doshia Ann (Barolat) Zimmerman. She was a retired cook and enjoyed baking.

She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in McAlester.

Survivors include children and a spouse, Jesse Daniels, of McAlester, and Deborah (Gregson) and John Shannon, of McAlester; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Daniels, of Shawnee.

Also, nine grandchildren and spouses, Pam and Mike Thomas, James Earl and Debbie Daniels, Deanna and Jerry Dornan, Frankie McDonald, Jim and Ginger Pingleton, Geneva and Fred Miller, Brenda and Gerald Ledford, Danny and Shellie Daniels, and Lori and Erik Russel.

And, 21 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Marvin Dunn, of Krebs, and Janet and Richard Wily, of Norman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jesse Daniels; second husband, Arthur Gregson; son, Turner Daniels; grandson, Jesse Dale Daniels; four sisters, Audie Sinora, Nellie Parker, Marie Sims, Louise Gregson, and one brother, Harvey Ray.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Pingleton, Fred Miller, Seth Thomas, Easton Pingleton, J.P. Miller and Danny Daniels.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cole Thomas, Trent Miller, Tyler Shannon and James Daniels.
