McALESTER — Bonnie Shinners, 87, of McAlester, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Brumley-Mills Chapel with Pastor Kerry Kirkhart officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Honey Grove, Texas, she was the daughter of Clabe and Lula May (Harper) Houston. After her mother preceded her in death, she was raised by her stepmother, Julia (James) Houston.

She married Tom Shinners in 1952, and he preceded her in death.

She enjoyed church, traveling, fishing and sports.

Survivors include brothers and a sister-in-law, Clarence and Billie Houston, and Bill Houston; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby White, Johnnie and Don Douglas, Betty Lewis, Clara Sackett, and Wilma Jo and Jim Tinsman; brother-in-law, Bill Trosclair; sister-in-law, Geneva Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Floyd Houston; sister, Mildred Trosclair, and sister-in-law, Linda Houston.
