McALESTER — Sara Jo Ballard, 74, of Sam’s Point, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Arpelar Cemetery Pavilion. Burial will be at Arpelar Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Aug. 4, 1939, in Smackover, Ark., she was the daughter of Carl Cheslie and Hazel Juanita (Sanes) Ballard. She had lived in southeast Oklahoma most of her life, first in the Madill area then in Pittsburg County since 1972.

In her  spare time she enjoyed going to garage sales. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, D.L. Dolly, of the home; children, Bobby Dunn, Richmond, Va., Rita Gail Dunn-Mills and husband, Douglas, Chesterfield, Va., and Sheila Ann Arndt and husband, Kent, of Apache.

Also, six grandchildren, Artie Ray Sennett, Heather Dawn Garvin, Robert Scott Dunn, Summer Dawn Dunn, Forrest Grant Arndt and Trinity Rose Mills; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edwin Witcher, Betty Lowry and Cathy Trip, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Donna Lee Dunn-Dolly; a son, Allen Cheslie Dunn, and two brothers, Tommy and Butch Ballard.
