Cynthia Pearl Abner, 85, of Wilburton, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Latimer Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Jones-Harkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jones-Harkins Chapel with Brother Jim White officiating. Burial will be at Centerpoint Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Harkins Funeral Home of Wilburton.
Born July 19, 1928, in Hochatown, she was the daughter of Trion Roberson and Fannie (McCravens) Roberson. She was married to Howard Alton Abner for 56 years and he preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 2001.
She was a member of Lutie Baptist Church for many years. She held several church leadership positions and enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School and other church activities.
Through the years she helped care for many children who remained close to her their entire lives. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, reading, and listening to music. Her family and friends were very important to her.
Survivors include her grandsons, Ron Abner, Sulphur Bluff, Texas; Mark Abner and wife, Dee Ann, Howe, Texas; daughter-in-law, Annie Abner, Roanoke, Texas.
Also, great-grandson, Jimmy Abner; great-granddaughters, Jadi, Tori and Mati Abner; great-great-grandchildren, Luke and Laney Abner, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Trion and Fannie Roberson; husband, Alton Abner; son, Ronald Gene Abner; two sisters, Dorothy and Minnie, and two brothers, Clarence and George.
Pallbearers will be Garnet Parks, Fred James, Robert Myers, John Forwoodson and Rob Reager.
Honorary pallbearers will be Loyd Lawson, Vernon Bullard, Stan Williams, Don Williams, Wendell Davis and Joe Coy.
Memorials may be made to Lutie Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice.
