Edsel M. Maki

McALESTER — Edsel M. Maki, 77, of McAlester, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at his home.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Sept. 19, 1935, in Atlantic Mine, Mich., he was the son of Benjamin and Hildreth Juntilla Maki.

He entered the United States Navy on Oct. 6, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minn., here, he was a heavy equipment operator, serving during Vietnam. He received his honorable discharge on June 30, 1965. He  had earned many awards and medals.

He married LaVerne Haynes on July 14, 1968, in Tijuana, Mexico. They moved to Oklahoma from Georgia to be near family. Shortly thereafter he began working at the United States Army Ammunition Plant as a heavy equipment operator, continuing to work until his retirement in 2007.

He enjoyed taking care of his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Maki, of the home; children, Vicki Perkins and husband, Dale, of Coweta, Daryle Webber and wife, Kelli, of Crowder, Todd Webber and wife, Gerri, Sandy, Ore., and Linda Hand and husband, David, Augusta, Ga.

Also, grandchildren, Andrea Perkins, of Stillwater, Dawn Son, of Bentonville, Steven Webber, of New Hampshire, Sheila Mora, Salem, Ore., Shelly Davis, Salem, Ore. Benjamin Hand, Augusta, Brandon Webber, of Crowder, Ashley Webber, of Crowder, and Breanne Webber, Salem, Ore. and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wesley Maki and Leonard Maki.

Domingo Allen Aquino

Domingo Allen Aquino, 49, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, in Muskogee.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Ark.
