McALESTER — Matilda ‘Tillie’ Ann Chafin

Matilda “Tillie” Ann Chafin, 84, of Camarillo, Calif., died Friday, May 17, 2013, after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 4, 1928, in McAlester, she was the daughter of Alfred and Alice Welsh. She married William Marvin Chafin on July 1, 1944, in Hugo, and they had two children.

Graveside services were at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Ventura, Calif. Arrangements were under the direction of Griffin Family Funeral Home of Camarillo.

Survivors include her sister, Sarah Amos, of McAlester; her brother, Alfred Welsh, of Oklahoma City; her sister, Laura Pace, of Norman; her sister, Betty Chamness, Columbia, S.C.; her brother, Jr. Chamness, Reno, Nev.

Also, her daughter, Mary Ann Sparks and her son-in-law, Robert Sparks, Camarillo, Calif.; her grandson, Scott Sparks and his wife, Amy Sparks; great-granddaughter, Samantha Sparks, Wylie, Texas; her granddaughter, Jamie Barker and her husband, James Barker; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Taylor, Joey Taylor, Trent Taylor and Chelcie Barker, of Washington.

And her grandson, Brant Sparks and wife, Jan Sparks, Camarillo; great-grandchildren, Chris Pluckrose, Rori Sparks and Kendall Sparks, Camarillo; her granddaughter, Kami Vanous and her husband, Andy Vanous, Littleton, Colo.; great-grandson, Braylon Vanous, Littleton; her great-granddaughter, Sierra Chafin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Welsh; son, William Chafin; mother, Alice Chamness; husband, Marvin Chafin; grandson, John Chafin, and brothers, Jimmy Chamness, Ralph Welsh and Steven Chamness.
