Hazel Catherine (Hardy) Smith, 95, of McAlester

McALESTER — Hazel Catherine (Hardy) Smith, 95, of McAlester, died June 13, 2013, in McAlester.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. James Crowson officiating. Interment will follow in North McAlester Cemetery, McAlester.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

She was born Feb. 7, 1918, to James A. and Tiny (Jones) Hardy at Massey. She was raised in McAlester. She married William T. “Bill” Smith Nov. 3, 1933, in McAlester. She worked in local restaurants, Pearls Nursing Home and General West Hospital. She retired from McAlester Regional Health Care Center in housekeeping. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She attended Faith Tabernacle Church.

She is survived by her son, James W. Smith; daughters, Willie Mae Hays, Betty Williams and husband, Donald, Donna Robinson and husband, Bert, all of McAlester; five grandchildren, Katherine Lightle, Beverly Martin, both of McAlester, Rondia Chapman, of Kiowa, Bruce Deerinwater II, of McAlester, and Dennis Williams, of Edmond; great grandchildren, Jason Lightle, Leah Medina, Morgan Pinson, Kase Martin, Kady Martin, Jess Hill, Gage Williams, Gavin Williams, Coalton Carano, Harley Carano, Chance Chapman and Ciera Chapman; five great-great grandchildren, Pablo Medina, Ozzlyn Lightle, Lidia Medina, Case Chapman and Levi Lightle; a sister-in-law, Mildred Hardy, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James A. and Tiny Hardy; step mother, Lula Hardy; husband, William T. “Bill” Smith, on Aug. 25, 1975; brothers, Roy Hardy and James Hardy Jr.; sisters, May Porter, Mary Salyard, Frankie Bullard and Myrtle Goddard; sons-in-law, Bruce Deerinwater and J.J. Hays, and great grandson, Zach Lightle.

Pallbearers will be Glen Marshall, Coalton Carano, Dennis Smith, Patrick Tinker, Brent Grilliot and Brent Owens.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.
