McALESTER — Larry Schumacher, 73, of McAlester died Monday, June 10, 2013 at the South Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Oklahoma City.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Bishop Funeral Home

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Eufaula, officiated by the Rev. Robert Dibell.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, McAlester

Funeral services are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

Born on March 6, 1940 in Schaller, Iowa, he was the son of Amos and Evelyn Ludvigson Schumacher.

He attended school in Schaller and graduated from Schaller High School. He joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years of service. He worked for IBM for 26 years working on larger computer systems such as in banks, he serviced all of southeastern Oklahoma.

He married Kay Southard Rock on July 14, 1994, in McAlester.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in McAlester for many years and also attended the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Eufaula.

He was a member of the Elks  BPOE Lodge No. 533 for 20 years.

He enjoyed square dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Schumacher, of the home; his first wife, Jeannette Schumacher, of Russellville, Ark.; one daughter, Deena Dewbre, of    Norwalk, Iowa; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Vicky Schumacher, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Monte and Susan Schumacher, of Russellville, Ark.; Marty Schumacher, of Russellville, Ark.; step-children, Sherri and Harold Butler of McAlester; Vernon and Tina Rock, of McAlester; grandchildren, Wesley and Denise Schumacher, step-grandchildren, Coy Whistler, Kristi Whistler and Kelcey Rock; step-great-grandchild,    Jayden Whistler; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dana Sue and Dale Zimmerman, of Memphis, Tenn. and Dawn Sharp,    of Omaha, Neb.; sister-in-law, Ann Southard, of McAlester; one niece, Randi Bryant, of Little Rock, Ark.; and, one nephew, Greyson Sharp, of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Jerry Rock.

Active pallbearers are Dale Zimmerman, Vernon Rock, Harold Butler, Billy Bob Smith, Greyson Sharp and Chris Woodley.

Honorary pallbearer is Gavin Jensen.
