R.B. Doshier

McALESTER — R.B. Doshier, 72 died Monday, July 29, 2013, at his home in Hartshorne.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haileyville High School gymnasium with Pastor Donald Riley officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.

Born Oct. 4, 1940, in Higgins, he was the son of William “Elmer” and Beulah Ellen “Newsom” Doshier. He was a lifelong resident of Hartshorne and graduated from Hartshorne High School in 1959.

He married Anita “McEuen” on Feb. 17, 1962, and they had four daughters. Then he married Susan “Miller” on Sept. 16, 1998, they had three daughters.

He was a member of Haileyville Christian Church. He owned many businesses over the years in the Twin Cities area. He spent the last dozen plus years working for Choctaw Nation.

He loved horses, boxing and bull riding, whether he was participating or just watching the events. He loved visiting with people, telling jokes and stories and any card game that was able to be played. He was an avid Oklahoma State University fan. But above all he loved coaching softball, he could have spent every moment of everyday on a softball field.   

Survivors include his wife Susan Gail (Miller) Doshier, of the home; children Christina (Tina) Maria and husband, Jay Benson, of Yukon, Melody Louise and husband, Billy Keeling, of Savanna, Tiffany Jo and husband, Jason Roberts, of Vian, and Melissa (Missy) and husband, Jasper Ligon, of Yukon.

Also, stepdaughters, Brandy Leigh Ellis, Rachel Lynn and husband, James Carter, and Heather Renee and husband, Jared McCall, all of McAlester; mother-in-law, Doris J. Miller.

Also, sisters-in-law, Linda and husband, Jay Stonebraker, Sherill and husband, George Berryman, Sue McEuen, Sara McEuen and Mary Lu McEuen; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

He was s preceded in death by his first wife, Anita Claudette (McEuen) Doshier; parents, Elmer and Beulah Doshier; siblings, Jr. and his wife, Lola Russell, Dub Doshier, and Jewell and Bill Warren; father-in-law, Henry “Buck” Miller, and his father, mother, brothers and sisters in-laws.

Pallbearers will be Jay Benson, Billy Keeling, Jason Roberts, Jasper Ligon, Jordan Benson, Jordan James and Charlie Roberts.

Honorary pallbearers will be all his nephews, great-nephews, stepsons-in-law, stepgrandsons-in-law and the staff at Choctaw Casino.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes or to any cause that is trying to fight or cure cancer.
