Violette Nicole Guertin Henslee, 67, of Kiowa, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. James Crowson officiating. Burial will be at Kiowa Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born Aug. 8, 1945, in Bristol, Conn., she was the daughter of Roland and Margaret (Ferland) Guertin. She grew up in Connecticut, graduating from Bristol Central High School.
She had a long career working for the distribution company Campbell Taggart in Dallas, Texas, retiring as a systems analyst.
She married Harold Henslee on Aug. 10, 1991, in Dallas. Shortly thereafter, they made Kiowa their retirement home. While living in the area, she went back to work as a bookkeeper for the Bank NA in McAlester.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, murder mysteries, listening and dancing to country music, bowling, landscaping, gardening and home improvement projects. She could speak French fluently due to her Canadian heritage.
She delivered meals on wheels, along with other community service projects with her “sorority sisters” in Kiowa.
Survivors include her children: a son, Richard Nadeau and Becky Wheeler, of Kiowa; daughter, Kelly Fengler and husband, Rick, Hickory Creek, Texas; son,, Troy Nadeau, of Kiowa; stepdaughter, Tricia Jones and husband, Randy, Sherman.
Also, her grandchildren, Brandon Fengler, Kaylee Fengler, Weston Wheeler, Chaz Gilbert and Cole Gilbert; brother, Norman Guertin, of Kiowa; niece, Melody Guertin, Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Gary Guertin, Bristol, Conn.
And, brother-in-law, Richard Aylett, Burleson, Texas; nephew, Michael Aylett, Hackensack, N.J.; niece-in-law, Lisa Aylett, Burleson, Texas, and great-niece and great-nephews, Nathan Aylett, Natalie Aylett, Katie Denise Aylett and Alex Aylett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Henslee, on Sept. 19, 2011; her parents, Roland Guertin and Margaret (Ferland) Guertin; sister, Denise Aylett, and a nephew, Tom Aylett.
Pallbearers will be Rick Fengler, Richard Nadeau, Troy Nadeau and Jerry Burgett.
