McALESTER — Charles E. Dobbs, 79, of McAlester, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at the Oklahoma City V.A. Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in McAlester, officiated by Pastor Roy H. Prince.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors by the Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Funeral services are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, McAlester.

Born Jan. 28, 1935, in Centerville, Ark., he was the son of Samuel and Dortha (Coleman) Dobbs.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars.  

He married Hazel Mae Baker on Sept. 24, 1988, in Las Vegas, Nev.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking.

He was a member of the Northgate Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Mae (Baker) Dobbs, of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Stephen Dobbs of Magnolia, Texas, Stanley and Cindy Dobbs, of Camp Verde, Ariz., Darell and Gloria Dobbs, of McAlester;

one daughter and son-in-law, Janice Dobbs Hill and John, of West Fork, Ark.; stepsons, Wayne Dobbs of McAlester, Andy and Marsha Dobbs, of McAlester; 32 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Samuel Dobbs, of Phoenix, Ariz., three sisters, Mary Evelyn (Dobbs) Jernigan, of Houston, Texas, Martha Christine (Dobbs) Fussell, of The Woodlands, Texas, and Linda Lenoral (Dobbs) Comer, of Branson, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Dortha Dobbs; mother of his children, Mamie Lee Dobbs; two brothers, three sisters and a step-daughter, Kathy Dobbs.

Active pallbearers will be Jerry Latimer, Wade Eller, Stanley Dobbs, Darell Comer, Robbie Carr and Henry Gregor.

Honorary pallbearers will be church brothers from Northgate Baptist Church, Curtis Baker, Stephen Dobbs, Darell Dobbs, Wayne Dobbs, Andy Dobbs and Mike Yates.
