James ‘Jim’ Eugene Hudson

McALESTER — James “Jim” Eugene Hudson, 67, of McAlester, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at his home.

Private services were held at Blanco Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Jan. 30, 1947, in Blanco, he was the son of Charles Eugene Hudson and Lucille Rollings. He grew up and attended school in Savanna.

He then completed CLEET training at Norman Police Academy and served as a policeman in a few communities in Oklahoma.

He married Diane Sharp on Oct. 15, 1975, in Ponca City.

He was a professional musician who played at many venues in Oklahoma and even recorded some of his own music in Nashville, Tenn.

When they had a son, he decided to pursue a career that would enable him to be more available to his family. As a result, he received certification as a physical therapy tech and had a 25 year career at McAlester Regional Health Center, retiring in 2010.

Survivors include his wife, Diane S. Hudson, of the home; his son, Jimmy E. Hudson, of the home; sisters, Frances Martin and her husband, Alfred, of Stuart, and Janice Carlton and her husband, Bill, of Ada; brother-in-law, Billy Sharp and wife, Gail, Buford, Ga.

Also, sisters-in-law, Barbara Doyle, Fayetteville, Ark., Janet Weaver, Clinton, Ark., and Joy Young and husband, John, of Kiowa; an aunt, Janie Brasfield, of Haywood, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and  special friends, including all members of Gaines Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; a brother, Charles D. Hudson, and a sister, Donna Leflore.
