Kenneth Hulin

McALESTER — Kenneth Hulin, 84, died Saturday, June 7, 2014.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Family to meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Tony Peak, Tecumseh First Baptist Church, and Larry Sparks, Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

He was born in Tecumseh on Nov. 7, 1929, and remained there as a lifelong resident. After graduation from Tecumseh High School as a three-sport letterman in 1947, he served his country in the Korean War in 1951 and 1952. After returning from the service, he was elected Mayor of Tecumseh in March of 1955 at age 25 and served two terms. He married Wanda Lott in Stigler on May 9, 1955. They were married for 59 years. He owned and operated a service station in two different locations in Tecumseh for 33 years from 1956 to 1989. He also served his community as a volunteer firemen and fire chief, retiring after 20 years.

He enjoyed quail and pheasant hunting, fishing and gardening. He shared the vegetables from his garden with many residents and senior citizens throughout the years. He especially enjoyed meeting people and visiting everyone in the community.  He enjoyed spending time with family and was a loving husband, father and grandpa.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Lott) Hulin of the home; sons, Mike Hulin, of Tecumseh, and Russell and wife, Debbie Hulin, of Tecumseh; daughter, Kim and husband, Mike, Rawls, of Tecumseh; seven grandchildren, Nichole Rawls, of Shawnee, Josh Rawls, and wife, Jill, of The Village, Zac Rawls, and wife, Amanda, of Shawnee, Ryan Hulin, of Tecumseh, Lauren Hulin, of Tecumseh, Brooke Cazares, of McLoud, and Blayne Hulin, of Mcloud, and two great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Hazel Lott, of McAlester; sisters-in-law, Juanita Maisano, of McAlester, and Vivian Owens, of Scipio, and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Bessie (Brock) Hulin, of Tecumseh; brothers, Junior Hulin and Joe Hulin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sherman and Lillian Lott, of Scipio; brothers-in-law, CJ Maisano, of McAlester, and Alan Owens, of Scipio, and sister-in-law, Margaret Lance, of Scipio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his honor to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation/ Cancer Research or the charity of your choice.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.

She moved to Edmond, OK, two months ago in order to be closer to her sons and family members. Bette was born on the family farm near Washington, OK, on March 11, 1930.
