David Lee Helmert

McALESTER — David Lee Helmert, 50, of Wilburton, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, in Wilburton.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Church in Wilburton.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Wilburton. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wilburton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Harkins Funeral Home of Wilburton.

Born Nov. 2, 1963, in Wilburton, he was the son of James Donald and Barbara Jean (Feagan) Helmert. He grew up in Wilburton and graduated from Wilburton High School with the Class of 1982.

He worked as a master carpenter and spent the last few years caring for his father.

He was a car-restoration enthusiast. He treasured his friends and family, was very close with his parents, had a special relationship with his nephew, and especially enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren.

His hobbies were fishing and creating art with his hands in various forms of media including wood, leather, tile and granite.

Survivors include his parents, Jim and Barbara Helmert, of Wilburton; daughters, Amber Helmert and Brittney Helmert with her boyfriend, Zach Chavez, of Wilburton; and grandchildren, Landon and Graycee, of Wilburton.

Also, uncles, Jerry Feagan, of Kansas, and Tim Feagan and wife, Martha, of Virginia; maternal grandmother, Minnie Feagan, of Kansas, Lana Helmert, of Wilburton, Kelly Helmert, of Wilburton, and Cindy Raben and husband, Tony, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Vyron Feagan; brother, James Francis Helmert, and sister, Teresa Helmert-Weddle.

Pallbearers will be Zach Chavez, Jesse Morrow, Tommy Kendrick, Dawayne Deela, John Forwoodson and Mike Elder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Helmert, Chad Adcock, Doug Jensen, Garrett Martin, Brandon Garvin, Bill Burleson, D.R. Jenson and Jim O’Reily.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.

She moved to Edmond, OK, two months ago in order to be closer to her sons and family members. Bette was born on the family farm near Washington, OK, on March 11, 1930.
