Norma Lois Wood, 77, of Pittsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Pittsburg with the Rev. Kenny Morrow officiating. Burial will be at Pittsburg Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born May 3, 1936, in Pittsburg, she was the daughter of Vernon Vaughn and Arizona Wyoming (Henderson) Vaughn.
She married William D. Wood Sr. on June 19, 1954, in Kiowa, and he preceded her in death in 2011.
She worked as a hairdresser for more than 15 years. She enjoyed working in the church, crossword puzzles and doing yard work. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a longtime member of Pittsburg First Baptist Church and enjoyed going and listening to the singings.
Survivors include her sons, William D. Wood Jr., of Lexington, and Gary Wood, Memphis, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Johnny Wood and wife, Pat, of Pittsburg; sisters-in-law, Betty Blessing and husband, George, of Savanna, and Bo Wood, of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Julie Baker, of Jones, Misty Towels, of El Reno, Jessica Wood, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Parker Wood, Woodridge, Ill.; great-grandchildren, C.J., LaRessa, Chris, Jase and Shelby, and special caregivers, Glenda and Shelly Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William D. Wood Sr.; grandson, Christopher Wood; daughter-in-law, LaGayla Wood; sister, Thelma Amerson, and brothers, Dewey, Lee Edward, L.V., and Vernon Vaughn.
Pallbearers will be Clifford Vaughn, Jimmy Ray Wood, Robert Hicks, Garrett Hicks, Raymond Victor Hicks and Bronson Hicks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Ryan, Joe Ryan, Ronnie Vaughn and Raymond Hicks.
