McALESTER — Karen Dee (Wood) James, 59, of Haileyville, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne with Pastor Bob Davidson officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. There will not be a committal service at the cemetery, the service will conclude at Brumley-Mills Chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.

Born Nov. 15, 1953, in McAlester, she was the daughter of Roy D. and Shirley (Sublet) Wood. She lived most of her life in the Haileyville and Dow area and married Mike James on Sept. 15, 1971, in Sherman, Texas.

She was a member of Haileyville Glee Club and the Holdenville Mothers Club, when the family lived in Holdenville. She was also a softball coach for the little league in Hartshorne.

Survivors include her husband, Mike James, of the home; one son, Johnny Joe James, of Haileyville, and Jennifer Herrington; one daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Bryan Fields, of High Hill.

Also, granddaughter, Madyson Rose Fields; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Virginia Wood, Sherman, Texas, and Doug and Anna Lou Wood, of Hartshorne; niece and spouse, Staci and Shawn Curliss; numerous other nieces and nephews, and special family friend, Jane Hitchcock.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy D. and Shirley Wood.
