Arvil Leston Davis

McALESTER — Arvil Leston Davis, 54, of Featherston died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at his home in Featherston.

The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 p.m.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Quinton Elementary School Gym. Brothers Randell Pearce and Daniel Bacorn will officiate. Interment will follow at Featherston Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

He was born on May 24, 1958 in Antlers, Okla. to Virgil and Cleo (Mickel) Davis. He grew up in Broken Bow and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1976, then attended OSU Okmulgee Tech to study Air Conditioning/Refrigeration. He married his “beautiful wife”, Cheryl Bacorn on Jan. 20, 1978 in Glover. In March of that year they moved to Quinton where Arvil worked on the White Ranch. He later worked for New Prospect Drilling and Samson Resources as a gas well pumper and they made their home in Featherston. Arvil loved spending time with family, friends, and his bird, Hannah, as well as fishing, roping, hunting and camping. He was a long time member of the Quinton Round-Up Club and the U.S. Team Roping Championship. Arvil and his son, Jacky, spent numerous hours roping in USTRC sponsored events, as well as several hours fishing. Arvil enjoyed spending weekends with his wife and grandson, Kollin, retiring his cowboy days to be a cowboy’s papa. He also enjoyed spending time with his son and “favorite” daughter-in-law as she googled information to him about any horse he wanted to know about.

He was survived by his wife Cheryl Davis of the home, his son and daughter-in-law Jacky Darrell and Lacey Davis of Purcell, grandson, Kollin Davis of Purcell and his grandson's mother Cleo Mickel Davis of Corinne; grandmother, Beulah Mickel of Corinne; brother, Chester Davis of Corinne; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Molenda Simmons of McAlester, LeVitia and Ken Bacorn of Quinton, Ann and James Wilson of McAlester, Kathy and Ricky Kelley of Corinne; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gilbert and Jo Bacorn of Featherston; two special sons, Jade Clifft and Morgan Hamlin; numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Davis and 2 sisters, Rebecca and Charlotte Davis and a special son, Lee Ogden.

Pallbearers will be Dee Gray, Jade Clifft, Wayne Ogden, Steve Billingsley, Bear Nixon, Morgan Hamlin, Jerry Ogden, and Todd Moon. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Bacorn, Tommy Brown, Jerry Johnson, Angela Luckett, Rick Gragg, Tom Boyle, Dennis Mason, Billy Stewart, Bobby Pugh, Marvin Bartlett, Larry Lyles, Bob Baird and Kimberly Rodgers.
