McALESTER — Billy Marvin Shaffer Jr., 51, of McAlester, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at his home.

The family will receive visitors at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Chapel of Memories. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born April 14, 1962, in Scottsdale, Ariz., he was the son of Billy Marvin Shaffer Sr. and Eldora (Miller). He moved to Pittsburg County from Peru, Ind., with his family around the age of 15. He received his education at Crowder, graduating with the Crowder High School Senior Class of 1980.

Following high school, he worked as an airplane mechanic for Brenair Aviation Service, retiring after 26 years of service. Soon after, he began working for the city of McAlester and was currently employed there.

He enjoyed playing video games and spending time with his sisters, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include two sisters, Christina Louise Beamer, of Florida, and Crystal Ellen Nesbitt, of Caddo;  nieces and nephews, Misty Robinson, Hank Nesbitt, Lacy Nesbitt, Joshua Grenier and Seth Hartleroad; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kristen Robinson, Ivy Nesbitt, Haven Nesbitt, Harper Nesbitt, Lilly Nesbitt, Ava Nesbitt, Raegan Grenier, Talon Grenier and Seth Hartleroad Jr.; stepmother, Juanita “Pete” (Amos) Shaffer, of Crowder, and grandmother, Ellen Honea, of McAlester.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Shaffer Sr.; his mother, Eldora Miller; his paternal grandparents, Wilmer Shaffer and Ellen Elizabeth (Armstrong) Shaffer, and nephew, Zachariah Grenier.
