David Michael Rivas, 57, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.
Rosary was recited April 8.
Funeral Mass was held April 8 at Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, N.M. Burial was at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola, N.M.
Born in July 1956, in Tulsa, he was the son of Jesus and Lois Rivas.
He joined the United States Army and served as an infantryman in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1978.
He loved working as an auto body man at his father’s shop. He also enjoyed fishing and watching football.
Survivors include his son, David; daughter, Audrey; two grandsons, Emilio and Marcus; son, David, and wife, Justina; his mother, Lois, of Pittsburg; brothers, Mark and Steven, and sisters, Lisa and Cynthia and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus, and grandparents, Cresencio and Elias Arevalos.
Pallbearers were Steven Rivas, Robert Sanchez, Lorenzo Carrillo, Nick Hazel, Joe Kilman and Mark Rivas.
