Anna Marie Shields, 75, of Krebs, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Specialty Select Hospital in Tulsa.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Stanford officiating.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1937, in McAlester to Harold and Darlene (LeGrande) Horton. Her father was in the military so the family moved around a lot during her childhood, but she always spent summers in Krebs with family. She was back in McAlester for good when she was a sophomore and graduated from McAlester high school in 1956. She married John Shields on May 25, 1956, in Krebs.
She raised three children, worked at Shield’s Drive-In in Krebs, McAlester Regional Hospital, the Hiway Lodge, and the Holiday Inn. After that she opened her own business called the Elite Repeat, a clothing consignment store in McAlester. She later went to work for J. C. Penney in the jewelry department, for a number of years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, John Shields; children, Shawnya Brown, Chris Shields and wife, Carla, of Krebs, Tami Shipley and husband Don, of Krebs; grandchildren, Matthew Brown and his wife, Meredith, Josh Brown, Ryan Shields, Carter Shields, Catherine Shields; and great-grandson, Caleb Brown.
She was preceded in the death by her parents.
