Helen Louise (Otjen) Fagan, 91, formerly of McAlester, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, in Plano, Texas.
The family will receive visitors Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service.
Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in McAlester.
Arrangments are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
She was born July 18, 1921, in Enid to William J. and June (Cullison) Otjen. She graduated from Enid High School in 1939. In 1943, she graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Home Economics and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
She began her working career as a home demonstration agent with the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in Oklahoma City. She married William J. Fagan on Dec. 11, 1943, in Enid. After moving to McAlester at the end of World War II, she taught home economics at McAlester High School for several years.
In the 1970s, she served as the executive director of the Girl Scouts of America for the McAlester region. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in McAlester and was active in PEO Chapter AT in McAlester and the PEO Chapter in Overland Park, Kan.
She is survived by her sons, Bill Fagan Jr. and wife, Carolyn, of Fairview, Texas, and Tim Fagan and wife, Pamela, of Enid; a sister, Caroline Baldi, of Philadelphia, Pa.; six grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Mary Barns and Irene Otjen, and a brother William Otjen Jr.
