Betty Lou (Price) Kirby

McALESTER — Betty Lou (Price) Kirby, 78, of Jenks, formerly of McAlester, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at her home.

The family will receive visitors from 2-4 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Service. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the North Town Church of Christ, officiated by Kevin Kasparek. Interment will follow at Red Oak Cemetery in Canadian.

Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

She was born March 21, 1936, in Bearden to Fred and Marie (Smith) Price. She grew up in the Brooken Community and attended Brooken School.

She married Wilferd Lemuel Kirby on March 18, 1953, at Canadian and was a homemaker. After her children were raised, she worked as a folder and press operator for Casey’s Uniform Company.

She was a member of North Town Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting with her husband, fishing, gardening an spending time with her cats and dogs. She also enjoyed attending the Indianola Senior Citizens Center lunches.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff Kirby and wife, Audrey, of Sand Springs, and Eddy Kirby, of McAlester; three grandchildren, Jamie Kirby, of Sand Springs, Danelle Hatch, of Sand Springs, and Adam Stryker, of Tulsa; three sisters, Juanita Parker, of Jenks, Faye Norton and husband Jimmy, of Jenks, and Wilma Lythle and husband, Tommy, of Tulsa; a brother-in-law, John Kirby and wife, Nell, of Crowder; a sister-in-law, Diane Martin, of Scipio; special friends Pat Gray and Ramona Cox; cousin and care-giver Susie Kimble-Kirby, of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marie Price; her husband, Wilferd Kirby on Aug. 22, 2009; a grandson, Justin Kirby; a sister, Brenda Stacy; her mother–in-law, Irene Kirby, and father-in-law, John Kirby, and a brother, James Price.

Active pallbearers will be Dale Yount, Charles Dunn, Dobb Clifton, Phillip D. Webster, Phil Martin and Lee Epps. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Harrison, Marvin Gray, Chris Martin and John Kirby.
