Kathryn LeBella Taylor

McALESTER — Kathryn LeBella Taylor, 90, of Oklahoma City, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at an Oklahoma City nursing center.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Criswell Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rosedale Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Dennis officiating. Suzanne Wooley will perform a violin solo. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.

Born Dec. 22, 1922, in Goodland, she was the daughter of John and Mamie Brinkley Wasem.

She married Delbert Taylor on July 20, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1997.

She was a homemaker. She was a former member of Ada First Baptist Church for many years and worked in the children’s ministry. She was active with the jail and prison ministry and spent many evenings in prayer with the inmates or provided homemade sugar cookies for comfort.

She moved to McAlester in 1998 and became a member of First Baptist Church in McAlester. She assisted families surviving disasters, the homeless and dressing the Vo Tech ladies with the skill of a personal shopper, always adding a prayer or bible. She was an advocate for the bus ministry and was a familiar fixture at the bus station, waiting to pass out cookies, socks and bibles of several languages. She was a prayer warrior for the Norman Vincent Peale Guidepost magazine and would receive packets of prayer requests weekly.

Survivors include two sons, Delbert Taylor, Hot Springs, Ark., and Stephen Taylor and wife, Mary, of Konawa; two daughters, Diana Anderson, Wasilla, Alaska, and Becky Fenton, of Edmond; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Delbert Taylor.
