Otis James, 83, of Highlands, Texas, died Monday, April 8, 2013.
A visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sterling-White Funeral Home of Highlands.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Highlands. Burial will be at Sterling-White Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sterling-White Funeral Home of Highlands.
Born July 7, 1929, in Blanco, he was the son of Otis and Lula James. He served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
He worked as a machine operator for a paper mill for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Saundra Grimes and husband, Glenn; son, Mike James and wife, Kathie; daughter-in-law, Theresa James; brother, Johney James and wife, Jackie; sister, Lou Bates and husband, Bob; grandson, Jeremy James; granddaughter, Holly James; grandson, Chris James; grandson, Alex James; grandson, Andrew James; great-granddaughter, Makaylah James; great-grandson, Ayden James; great-grandson, Ryan James, and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris James, and son, Terry James.
