Kay Karmen Shero

McALESTER — Kay Karmen Shero, 78, of Wilburton, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark.

The family will greet friends, Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Jones Harkins Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Wilburton, officiated by Dr. Billye Kay Givens.

Interment will follow at Centerpoint Cemetery, Wilburton.

Services are under the direction of Jones Harkins Funeral Home, Wilburton.

She was born Jan. 19, 1935, in Enid.

She attended Wilburton High School and graduated with the class of 1953.

She was active with the Center Point Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church of Wilburton, the Wilburton Alumni Association and 20th Century Club and served as the director of the Wilburton Chamber of Commerce.

She is survived by her daughters, Ronda Glenn and Carl Cook, of Wilburton, and Rovay Brownlee and husband, Russell, of Wilburton; her children’s father, Harlan Haug of Elizabeth, Ill.; grandchildren, Christopher Rowland and wife Alana, of Odessa, Texas, Caitlin Brownlee, Kendall Glenn, Conor Brownlee, Charles Glenn, all of Wilburton; great-grandchildren, Logan Rowland and Brody Rowland, both of Odessa, Texas; sisters-in-law, Retha Karnes of Gulfport, Miss., Mary “Mickey” Shero, of Texas, Charlice Offenheiser, of Elizabeth, Ill.; brothers-in-law, John Shero and wife, Pauline, of Wilburton, Bob Shero and wife Sharon, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and the extended Shero family, friends and church families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Shero; father, Glen Karnes, mother, Georgia Akers; stepfather, Jess Akers, and brother, Keith Karnes.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Shero, Earl Shero, Lee Shero, Chris Finley, Ron McRee and Chris Shero.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Shero, Bob Shero, Brian Shero, Vernon Bullard, Vernon Underwood, Jack Edmonds and John Eric Shero.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Wilburton, Center Point Baptist Church and the Wilburton Alumni Association.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.

She moved to Edmond, OK, two months ago in order to be closer to her sons and family members. Bette was born on the family farm near Washington, OK, on March 11, 1930.
