Thomas Lee ‘Tommy’ McFarland, Sr.

McALESTER — Thomas Lee “Tommy” McFarland, Sr., 55, of Jack Fork, died Friday, March 29, 2013, in McAlester.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chambers Community Center.

Born May 10, 1957, in Pasadena, Texas, he was the son of Denver Lee McFarland and Dora Ellen (Meggs) McFarland.

He grew up in Pittsburg County and graduated from Haileyville High School in 1975.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in October of 1975 and  was discharged in 1979.

He received training for operating heavy equipment from the Vo-Tech in Drumright.

He was a heavy equipment operator in the strip mining industry and construction. He worked as a machinist for Phoenix Industries.

He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his mother, Dora E. McFarland, of Haileyville; two sons, Thomas Lee McFarland, Jr., of Wilburton, and Raymond Anthony McFarland and wife, Jennie, of Hartshorne; three grandchildren, Ciera Michelle McFarland, Hazzie Elizabeth McFarland and

Preston Anthony McFarland; and brother, Larry Allen McFarland of McAlester.

He was preceded in death by his father, Denver Lee McFarland; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Lee “Tommy” McFarland, Jr., Raymond Anthony McFarland, Kenny Glenn McCarroll, Larry Dewayne Wingo, Joe Wingo and Mike James.
