Alice Barbara Reed Main, 92, of Sterling, Colo., died Thursday, March 20, 2014, in Sterling.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Symes officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Nov. 21, 1921, in Rowley, Mass., she was the daughter of Myron Pace Reed and Olive Adelaide Reed. She married Cpl. Leon Main on Dec. 24, 1943.
Following World War II, she and her husband made their home in Tulsa. They later moved to Denver in 1959 and Houston, Texas in 1974, where they were involved in a pinochle club, going to operas and plays with friends and playing dominoes.
She worked as a librarian at Fort Bend County Library until her retirement. After her husband preceded her in death in 1999, she moved to Akron, Colo. in 2001. In 2010 she moved to Legacy Assisted Living in Sterling and made many friends with residents and staff alike.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Main, Denver, Colo.; Patricia and Rick Lewton, Otis, Colo., and Helen and Bryan Medve, Richmond, Texas; four grandchildren and spouses, Brian and Brittny Lewton, Sterling, Colo.; Kristen and Kyle Holman, Greeley, Colo.; Jacob Medve, Richmond, and Elizabeth Hankins, Needville, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Karis Hankins, Ty Hankins, Alexis Lewton, Tristan Lewton and Finlee Holman; sister, Jeannette Iofolla, of Massachusetts, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; her sister, Helen Marshall; brother, Philip Reed; her brother-in-law, Robert Main and his wife, Marion; brother-in-law, George Main; her parents, and her husband’s parents.
